Moose trackers extraordinaire?

Given all the woodland we’d already passed through, and since the moose park was indeed closed, we decided the only sensible course of action was to head into the forest for a wild camp. We found a great spot near a river and a slight clearing between two stretches of trees – just the sort of place where a moose might like to hang out at dusk. While waiting for the sun to set, we set out exploring and found some very encouraging signs…

It was another clear night so almost as cold as the last, but we sat firm, and very still, until we could no longer see – or feel – our fingers in front of our faces. Still no joy 😦

At least the stars were pretty.

The next morning we were looking for evidence of a moose passing through camp in the night but before taking two steps from the car discovered we’d had another visitor…

For those less accustomed to animal tracking, that’s most definitely a bear print (and it wasn’t there the night before)!
