To the light

So we missed the canyon, understandably distracted by our first moose sighting. Unfortunately said moose turned out to be a fairly averagely sized reindeer, trotting across the road in front of us. We later saw a fox, but still the moose proved elusive. We had brilliant clear skies and were keen to camp wild, so when we found a spot by the river decided to pull up for the night. We gradually realised how bastard freezing it was, but consoled ourselves with the prospect of our first really starry night. We’d both tentatively considered the possibility of Northern Lights but had quickly dismissed them as an unlikely feature of this trip. As it turns out, our first clear night north of the Arctic Circle was more than we could ever have hoped for. Aurora borealis in all her splendour!
